Description
An anchor provides an age-old way to hold your boat in place if you want to stop and do some swimming, fishing or picnicking or just wish to enjoy your natural surroundings. But many folks don’t realize an anchor can also be an important safety tool.
Should your boat or engine malfunction, an anchor can keep you in place and prevent you from drifting farther offshore or into hazards such as rocks, dams or surf. That’s why a dependable anchor should be on board every vessel.
The Seachoice Fold-and-Hold Galvanized Box Anchor from Bakes Marine is a great choice. Weighing just 13 pounds, this small anchor is easy to use and stow. The foldable design of this fold ’n hold anchor provides superior anchoring power when it is deployed. Yet it takes up minimal space on your boat when you fold it.
The Seachoice box anchor performs as a state-of-the-art offshore anchor. It brings anchoring to a new level of sophistication, giving you more control over the placement of your boat in any situation, regardless of the current and bottom condition.
This anchor is easier to handle because it requires no chain and only a 2:1 scope; that’s just twice the depth of the water and half the amount of line required for a traditional anchor.
Just kill the engine and toss the anchor overboard; it’s that easy. The anchor will hit the bottom, roll to its side and set within one foot with no need to power down.
You will be able to maintain your position dependably till it’s time to go. This anchor’s unique patented design holds your boat securely, digging the anchor’s downward-facing flukes firmly into the bottom without snagging them. You won’t have to pull up what seems like the entire lake or bay bottom with it when you want to move.
When it’s time to weigh anchor, just pull the line to bring the boat over the top of the anchor. The lack of an upward-facing surface area will pop the anchor right off the bottom.
This same principle works when the wind or current changes. With a traditional anchor, if you are in a cove or canyon and the wind direction suddenly changes, you have to power up the boat, retrieve the anchor and try to reset it to accommodate the new situation.
The box anchor has been designed to take care of all of this for you. The new wind direction brings the boat over the top of the anchor, freeing it from the bottom. As the boat passes over the top of the anchor and continues toward its new resting place, the anchor simply rolls over on its other side to set firmly in the new direction.
When it comes time for storage, simply retrieve the anchor, release the stainless steel stabilizing arm and fold the anchor completely flat to be stored. Check out all the box anchor reviews you can find and we think you’ll agree this one should be on your shopping list and on your boat.
